ERRA is a collaboration between sisters Audrey Heimgartner and Rachel Sasaki. In 2018, their shared vision and desire to create art objects that inhabit a space, and elevate a mood, was realized in the perfect combination of art and function.
Living together in Brooklyn, NY since the early 2000’s, Rachel and Audrey have always worked closely together whether it was doing individual projects in their shared studio or joint freelance projects within the worlds of fashion and art.
Their love of the handmade led to a series of printed designs, layered in numerous colors, applied with invented techniques, that achieve a unique effect. The designs are inspired by art nouveau/deco, gothic architecture and express the nuance and complex beauty of nature. Each tray and box is embellished with inlaid hand-crafted brass and semi-precious gemstones creating pieces that are truly original and special.
ERRA works with Plank Road Woodworks, based in Charlottesville, VA, owned and operated by their brother Glenn Heimgartner who carefully sources all the wood and skillfully handcrafts each tray and box.
Audrey has a BFA in fine art from MICA in Baltimore, MD and a MFA in sculpture from Cranbrook in Bloomfield Hills, MI. She recently moved to Easton, PA after living in Brooklyn, NY for over 20 years. Rachel has a BFA in fashion from Virginia commonwealth university in Richmond, VA and has taken numerous classes in metalsmithing throughout the years. She currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.
